Southern Railway is enhancing train safety by implementing Kavach technology. This advanced system integrates train engines, tracks, and signals to prevent accidents. Chips are installed along the tracks to alert drivers of potential risks. Southern Railway has recently issued a tender to deploy Kavach technology across 271 km of key routes, including Chennai Central-Arakkonam, Arakkonam-Renikunda, and Chennai Central-Gudur.
Southern Railway is taking a significant step towards enhancing train safety by implementing the cutting-edge Kavach technology. This advanced system integrates the train engine, track infrastructure, and signaling systems to create a comprehensive safety net.
Kavach operates by installing electronic chips at regular intervals along the railway track, approximately every 4 kilometers. These chips continuously monitor train movements and alert the driver in real-time of any potential hazards or risks, such as approaching signals, speed restrictions, or other trains on the same track.
To further strengthen rail safety, Southern Railway has recently issued a tender for the deployment of Kavach technology across a substantial 271 km stretch of key railway routes. These routes include the busy Chennai Central-Arakkonam, Arakkonam-Renikunda, and Chennai Central-Gudur lines.
The implementation of Kavach technology is expected to significantly enhance passenger safety and contribute to smoother and more reliable train operations across the Southern Railway network.
